yeah thats where i remeber his face good acting in this movie one of my all time favorites i like the realizm on how they stocked supplies in the u boat with food hanging everywhere
that’s right Stewker, it is spoken by the same actors themselves, but in the English version there are a lot of details, atmosphere, sense, jokes, authenticity lost compared with the German version.
i dont think you really read what i was writing or you didnt even try to understand.
in germany we always have german voice actors for english movies. having seen das boot in german, knowing most actors playing in it and knowing it is a german film, the question why they didnt take english ACTORS wouldnt make any sense. but i asked for english-speaking PEOPLE, who could have been dubbing the film. german people speaking english is in many cases horrible.
The version with English is fine. It is spoken by the same actors themselves not second-party voice actors. You do miss out on some of the authenticity but it doesn’t make the movie any “worse”.
English version exists, but I´ve often heard that it´s far worse than the German version with subtitles….due to the English language the film loses some of it´s originality - know what I mean: German boat, WW2, speaking English??
“and rare because its told from the German perspective.”
as a german i can tell you there are a lot of excellent (german) WW2 films with a critical position concerning the **** regime. you probably dont know them because german films usually arent that popular in the US/GB…
but i appreciate it that you like the film. ive just seen it the first time and i do have to say its one of the best films ive ever seen!

If you buy the DVD it should have English version, dubbed by the actors themselves, so they speak with German accent. Not as good.
